Comment: Massachusetts’ 66-page “Romneycare” plan has been widely cited by Democrats and the President as their prototype for (and essentially the same as) Obamacare’s 2,700 pages. Candidate Donald Berwick’s (Obamacare architect, former Obamacare official, and Massachusetts gubernatorial candidate) website recounts Romneycare’s failings:
“In the Massachusetts state budget, almost every key line item has gone down by 20%, 30%, or 40% in real terms since 2000 except health care, which has gone up by 60%. In 2013, 43% of state expenditures are for health care – that’s more than double what we spend on education.”
“Massachusetts’ health care is among the most expensive in the country. It doesn’t have to be that way. ”
