FLASHBACK:
“(Washington, D.C.) – According to the White House, it is a “myth” that the health care law will raise costs on business. The White House website says “Fact: Health insurance reform lowers costs for American businesses – especially small businesses.” Yet according to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the law will raise health insurance costs for two-thirds of them. The agency further states that because employers tend to pass on rate increases to their employees, about 11 million of the 17 million Americans working for small businesses will see their health insurance rates go up. It is not just the White House website that promised small businesses would see rate reductions. The President himself declared in 2009 that the law would allow entrepreneurs to keep plans they liked, but would make them “more affordable,” adding that rates could go down by 25 percent for these smaller companies.”
