It’s a New Ballgame for Obamacare

We Tea Partiers can congratulate ourselves. Three of our issues were prominent in the 2016 presidential campaign – immigration, voter fraud and, of course, Obamacare.

Where does Obamacare go from here? Commentary after the election has ranged all the way from ‘Trump will defund it on day one’ to ‘he can’t repeal all of it’ to ‘he will institute single-payer to replace it.’  Trump himself said after the election he might leave the most popular parts of Obamacare in place – maintaining guaranteed issue to people with preexisting conditions and allowing ‘adult children’ (I love that term) to remain on their parents’ plan to age 26.  I hope he doesn’t settle on guaranteed issue. State high risk pools – of the kind that existed in 35 states before Obamacare – are a much better answer to preexisting conditions.

My crystal ball is in the shop, so I don’t know where all this will shake out, but I do know that we can’t slack off.  We have to remain vigilant and keep pushing for total repeal – whether that’s with your lawmakers, your contacts inside the Trump camp, or your neighbor over the back fence.

Three of our tweets caught fire recently.  Twitter is a good little laboratory for testing messages.

In third place: ACA squeezing middle class –  QUOTE  ”They aren’t getting subsidies and these deductibles are hard to afford.” ENDQUOTE   I think this tweet was popular because of the reference to the middle class.

In second place: 1.4 million betrayed Americans receiving cancellation notices now. “You can keep your plan” – HASHTAG #LIARS.  This message, built around plans getting cancelled, was much more popular than any of the tweets we had about premium increases.

And the winner is: Chief Justice Roberts said it was up to the people to repeal Obamacare. The people have spoken. Politicians, DO YOUR JOB!  I’m guessing the reference to Chief Justice Roberts did the trick.  Who isn’t still angry at his turning himself into a pretzel to uphold Obamacare. Chief Justice – ‘It IS a tax, it is NOT a tax’ – Roberts will live in infamy.  No one will remember anything else about his entire career.

Finally, the Truth Squad’s second-in-command <INSERT NAME AND TEA PARTY HERE> came up with a funny meme about Obamacare being Miracle-Gro for government. I’ll include it in the wrap-up.
